As per energy governance groups, we have come to realize that renewable energy or clean
energy will account for nearly 45% of the global generation by 2040. Now that’s a surprising true fact. This is not just so that we can save energy and keep using it without polluting the
environment but so that we are able to provide for our future generations.
This increasing number is worthy of much excitement.
But here comes the big challenge. Renewable energy comes with its own big challenge which
is that it depends upon the weather. And whether as we all know keeps changing and has
always been dynamic we don’t have control over how the weather is going to be the next day
and we are the world which is used to having electricity on demand all the time the reliance on renewable energy becomes a challenge.
Now this must be feeling like we won’t be able to depend on renewable energy now due to the
weather dynamics but the truth is on the contrary.
Humans have always treated challenges with much interest and come up with solutions and
innovations that solve these challenges. Innovative storage solutions have been made so that
renewable energy can be the future of the energy industry providing the world with what it wants easily – all while creating even more job opportunities for specialists in the renewables & energy storage sectors.
Solution: Intermittent power generation.
Intermittent power generation is nothing but the irregular availability of electricity over a certain period of time. When weather conditions are less favorable to renewable resources the inconsistent and unreliable tags get attached to sources of renewable energy. Since leading renewable technologies like solar, hydro, wind, and geothermal power are dependent on weather, they can’t provide electricity year-round as single sources.
When we say they can’t provide energy year round we also mean that the sources can’t be a
single source of energy to depend on for humankind. The societal needs will not be met by
depending upon one renewable energy source which depends on whether.
With energy available in abundance by giving back money paying in bulk we are used to having electricity on demand at all times. The intermittent nature of renewables can put pressure on the reliability of this particular system. Integrating variable energy resources however can make this system strong and powerful as a combination of these renewable energy sources can be the right integration to power the world with electricity just how we are using it in current times.
Because the system has limited storage capacity, the balance of supply and demand needs to
be carefully calculated. Consistency and predictability are very important factors in energy
generation to avoid blackouts.
