What is the difference between renewable sources of energy and traditional energy sources?
Difference between renewable energy sources and traditional energy sources: We all know
that power is usually generated with sources of energy that are not renewable in nature. Like
coal or fuel. These sources are definite in number and can exhaust themselves. The world
has now realised how Renewable sources of energy is a much better alternative to generate
power. These renewable energy sources are indefinitely available. Like wind or water.
Energy generated from these sources of energy are not going to exhaust themselves. Hence
we will not run out of the sources and will be able to generate power easily for as long as we
want.
Various sources of energy and their usage:
Amongst the various energy sources like solar,
thermal, hydro or wind energy source, a particular type of source works best in different
geographical locations. Places where sunlight is available in abundance can make use of
solar energy. And in cold areas the use of hydro or wind energy would suit more.
In a place like India where all natural resources are thankfully available in ample amounts-
various states are making use of various renewable energy sources.
India and renewable energy resources: Talking about a vast country like India with all natural
resources available in abundance according to statistics if we compare all renewable
sources, wind generated the highest amount of power followed by solar at 3,943 million units
(MU) and 3,932 MU, respectively, in December 2019.
With multiple environmental challenges like climate change, global warming and alarming
amounts of pollution in air and water bodies we must switch to renewable energy power
generation. As unlike traditional sources of power generation, renewable sources create less
pollution simply by emitting less harmful gases.
The main objective for switching to renewable sources of energy in India is for the
Advancement of economic development, the improvisation in energy security, to improve the
access of energy and to mitigate the global issue of climate change.
When economic development and environmental health are considered hand-in-hand it is
called development which is sustainable. When we ensure access to affordable reliable
sustainable model energy for citizens we are moving towards sustainable development.
Strong government support and the increasingly opportune economic situation have pushed
India to be one of the top leaders in the world’s most attractive renewable energy markets.
The Government of India has taken various steps to make India take a turn towards
renewable energy sources increasingly. The government planned and designed policies and
programmes to get in action and attract foreign investments to ramp up the country in the
renewable energy market rapidly. This has also helped India improve its environmental
health and goodwill. Less pollution, less exhaustion of natural resources, an improvement in
the general environmental health are only a few gains we are seeing due to this switch.
