The Scope Of Wind Energy In India 

According to a study by the Global Wind Energy Council, titled “India Wind Energy Market Outlook 2022 – 2026”, a vast scope exists for low-cost wind energy resources in the country. 

• It is observed within this study that energy consumption costs will be at least forty percent lesser than a conventional power supply. 
• It is also expected that a gradual transition will take place from wind energy to wind-solar energy hybrids. 
• High-quality wind generation along the coastal regions of India has a better and more consistent scope of energy generation. 
• Roadblocks like the GST taxation and increase in global turbine prices are present but can be overcome with consistency and perseverance. 
• According to the Global Wind Energy Council study reports, India is set to install approximately 19GW of wind power generation in the coming five years. 

Developer companies are increasingly becoming a part of the wind energy project after several changes in government policies. A 33.01 percent growth is anticipated by the end of 2025 – 2026. 

The Ministry of Power in India is also working out a plan for the confirmed power purchase from these companies by 2030.
