We all know how the hospitality industry took a hit in 2020. The hospitality industry was the
first amongst the many industries to be shut and put in a state of lockdown for the longest
period of time. The hospitality industry was considered as the hotspot for the virus as that is
exactly where people would see each other and socialize. And as we all know that
Coronavirus is a communicable disease. The primary reason for its spread was human
interaction. Even after a long span of around 9 to 10 months the industry is still crawling
back to being able to serve people free of their fear. There are hospitality ventures that have
failed to get back up as they were either startups or already running in losses. The crowd in
general is now preferring to stay back home eat home-cooked food or meet their friends in a
safe environment and not where there is a possibility of the virus being spread.
Talking about the environment we all know how the lockdown and the after-effects proved to
be very beneficial for the environment the drop in the number of cars on the street leads to a drop
in air pollution which in turn leads to a clear sky. Likewise, there was a drop in noise pollution,
fuel purchases, business took to a halt and caused Mother Nature to replenish and richen
itself. We gave the environment the break it deserved, although forcefully, we could finally
see how much we had been hurting and misusing the resources causing havoc and an increase
in all sorts of pollution.
Connecting the environment and the hospitality industry we can now see a drive where the
hospitality industry is taking initiative in various forms to support and provide some space to
the environment. It is working hard to strike a balance between the Concrete and the Green
let’s take a quick look at a few examples:
