We all know how 2020 was a year full of surprises or rather, shocks. It can be called a Year
of transformation. Transformation at a personal level, community level, and also a global level.
Considering the environmental changes we witnessed. Let’s take a quick recap:
In a word:” COVID”. We all know how the Coronavirus pandemic and its lockdowns caused
rapid changes. It started with the reduction in Air pollution due to commuters staying off
highways. Additionally, airline travel was dramatically scaled back. That led to the skies
being cleared. The shutting down of the usual movement of humans caused the wildlife to
return, the rivers to cleanse and the pollution levels to drop. These dramatic changes were
only for a period of time.
However, they demonstrated that natural systems can recover quickly if we act to reduce
pollution.
Now that is the most important learning that has been offered to us by the pandemic. It
shows how we have the opportunity to recover stronger if we are capable of learning from
the pandemic and if we plan the economy based on an ecosystem that has its space to grow
and nurture us all.
Talking about the changes in the Energy sector we have listed down a few changes which
has caused the process of Energy Transformation to Accelerate:
The pandemic is reinforcing the rise of renewable energy sources and divestment from fossil
fuels. Renewables currently account for about one-third of power generation in many major
markets. Technological progress, growing economies of scale, falling costs for renewables,
energy security, price volatility of oil and gas, anticipated regulatory changes (including the
the inevitable much higher price on carbon emissions) and changing risk perceptions are all
driving the transformation of the energy sector, which overall accounts for over 80% of
emissions that cause global warming.
By the end of 2021, total investments in renewables will exceed investments in fossil fuels
for the first time ever, according to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
Which indicates we’re all moving in the right direction.
Talking about the Investors, they are starting to be interested in wind and solar farms.
Recovery infrastructure investments into smarter grids and storage are bound to significantly
increase the share of renewables in power generation and the wider application of electricity.
A revolutionary change is to occur in the sector of Transport which is responsible for one-third of primary energy and an equal share of global emissions. Tesla and Volkswagen
Group of Germany are examples of excellence after the shift to e-mobility. It is putting the
spotlight on clean power generation and improved electricity storage and distribution.
2021 is the year to take all the learnings into account and integrate it in a way where we form
a new normal, a healthier normal. A life that strikes the right balance between the concrete
and the green, between development and saving our resources, between business and
social goals!
Alfa strongly believes in switching over to Renewable Resources for Power. So we can think
of a healthier future and not burden nature. Alfa is one of the largest developers of
Renewable Energy Projects in India.
We are constantly advancing our technology, approach, and will to come up with better
renewable energy production.
