How big companies are moving to renewable energy at their offices

Renewable energy is a source of energy that is gaining a lot of popularity among businesses
now. The awareness of how the environment has been polluted at an alarming rate is
increasing day by day. Keeping that in mind a lot of businesses and industries have together
taken an initiative to move towards a greener world by switching to renewable energy
sources in their offices. These days offices run 8 to 9 hours per day which is a significant
amount of time each day. The point of doing this at offices is also to encourage employees
to do the same at their homes. It is in the hope of a trickle-down effect, say the parents start
taking up the environment and environmental issues seriously the children at home also start
noticing and understanding how the environment is in need for us to start making informed

1. Banning paper cups
   Paper cups are single-use cups that are used in bulk at offices or gatherings where water or
   juices are to be provided to people at large. MNCs and corporates used to provide
   employees with paper cups at the pantry or breakout areas, now a movement in this practice
   has been noticed where paper cups are being banned and employers are encouraging
   employees to get their own bottles in which water will be provided. This is to save paper
   wastage and encourage a green environment.
2. Segregating waste
   Offices are now aiming at making employees understand that waste segregation is important
   for a greener future hence many business giants are now providing every floor differently
   waste bins with labels put on them so that it is easy for employees to understand which kind
   of waste goes into which bin.
3. Planting gardens
   As we all know businesses occupy a very huge space in any city. A lot of land is turned into
   concrete to construct buildings and spaces that can host a number of people on a daily basis
   for work purposes. This directly reduces the green area that the world has. In order to
   compensate for the same now offices are trying to make space for plants and gardens on their premises.
4. Installing solar panels
   Solar panels are used to generate renewable electricity which is generated by the sun.
   Although installing solar panels costs a bomb and industries are now willing to move towards
   unable sources of energy and hence are making that switch.
5. Using CNG transport for office
   A huge amount of workforce travels to and fro office every day from distances which
   averages out to 5 to 6 km. A lot of pollution is caused just by office people traveling to the office and back. Offices are now encouraging transport via CNG vehicles that emit less pollution
   and encourage a green environment.
